LOS ANGELES – A man was in custody this morning after he allegedly stabbed a process server in the Lincoln Heights area and then fled, police said.

The stabbing took place in the 1700 block of Albion Street, just southeast of the Golden State (5) Freeway, Los Angeles police Sgt. David Hwang said.

The victim was attempting to serve papers related to a restraining order when the suspect stabbed him, Hwang said.

The suspect then fled into the neighborhood. LAPD officers set up a search perimeter and finally tracked him down about 3:30 a.m., Hwang said.

The suspect’s name was expected to be released later today — once he’s been booked.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics.
